    ​Using a variety of media, budding artists will improve their drawing and painting skills alongside new friends. Students will practice patience as they discover how to make their own artistic ideas come to life. Persevering despite making mistakes is a reoccurring theme, and kids are delighted when they make something beautiful. We discuss how to communicate big ideas with a simple visual, occasionally incorporating Biblical themes into the lesson when appropriate. Sibling discount available.

    Meets 2 times a week for 3 weeks
    Monday & Wednesday

    Class repeats every 3rd week 
    Art 1 and Art 2 taught at the same time during each class.
    Students must take Art 1 before taking Art 2.

    Basic coloring techniques with crayons and colored pencils, cutting with scissors, learning primary and secondary colors and warm and cool colors. 7 year olds - crayons, 8 - 12 year olds colored pencils, using fades and blends.  Will draw their own fish or bird to learn/use techniques

    Intro to colored pencil techniques - use fades, blends & layers, then creating their own work using techniques & developed skills. Art 2 - Line drawing & value drawing.

    Drawing: Uses various media with line & value drawing and perspective (1 & 2 point), conte, gesture and contour drawing.
    Painting: Student will do a pastel flower or will paint a 12 watercolor technique sheet before doing a nature scene.

    Students begin to develop their own ideas and skills with help & support from  Prof. Coffey​
    To use the studio, students must have taken Drawing and Painting classes and be approved by the teacher.
    Personal Information 
    Parent information is required if student is not 18 years or older

    We are required to have a Student Member Application for every student that attends Heart Encounters classes.  When you click the Art Registration button, the confirmation page provides a link for you to complete a Student Member Application.  If you have not completed a Student Member Application in the last 365 days, please click the link to complete a current Student Member Application.

     If you are not see a confirmation message, it means you didn't complete an item in the Personal Information section.  Fill in all items to complete the registration. Click the registration button again.
